South Farm Wedding Photography
I was absolutely delighted that Beth & Andrew invited me to be their South Farm wedding photographer. It was my first trip to this beautiful venue nestled in 20 acres of stunning countryside on the Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire borders. The glorious gardens, elegant buildings and charming farm are a unique backdrop for a romantic wedding.
As a wedding photographer I was spoilt for choice to create natural photos that were visually striking in the many different locations and backdrops South Farm offers. I joined Beth for some early morning prep in a local AirBnb before heading over to South Farm. She got ready in a small apartment on-site with her bridesmaids and daughter. Andrew was able to use one of the guest bedrooms to get changed with his best man and their son. The weather was overcast but the rain held off and the happy couple were able to get married in the summer house, with guests seated on the lawn. A picture-perfect setting for a wedding.
The cloud cover meant I had ideal lighting conditions as the lack of direct sun meant no one was squinting to see the ceremony or feeling the heat. With South Farm being such a picturesque venue the images just looked great wherever I pointed my camera. I capture the moments as they happen without interfering which was prefect for Beth & Andrew as they wanted to enjoy their day with their guests. They even had her brother in attendance – via a cardboard cutout – since Covid meant he was stuck in Australia. In the evening we took some time for a few simple relaxed portraits in the nice evening light in various locations South Farm offers.
A huge congratulations to Beth & Andrew on their wedding at South Farm. I had such a fantastic day and I’m very much looking forward to being a South Farm wedding photographer again soon.
Here are a selection of images from their day:
South Farm Wedding Photography
Once part of the grand Wimpole Hall Estate, South Farm was bought as a derelict farm in the 1970’s by the Paxman family and over the last 50 years the farmhouse and barns, nestled within 20 acres of glorious grounds, have been lovingly restored and brought back to life, turning South Farm into the wonderful landscape you see today. I’ve shot weddings up and down the UK and I firmly believe that it is one of the very best wedding venues in the UK. Being a South Farm Wedding Photographer is one of the best days you can have doing this amazing job.
The farmhouse, rustic barn buildings and stunning gardens offer a perfect backdrop for the wedding day of your dreams, and are a playground for any South Farm Wedding Photographer. While lots of venues have spaces that need to be turned around for different sections of the day, at South Farm you can spend the entire wedding causally moving from one part of the grounds to the next while enjoying a different vibe to each part of the day. Start the day in the bridal suite which has loads of room for prep before getting married in the beautiful The Summer House. This is one of the most picturesque garden ceremony locations you’ll find and it’s just a short walk over to the outside bar area for your drinks reception. Then the Tudor barn is a perfect space for guests to enjoy your wedding breakfast. Unlike a lot of older barns it is quite bright in there – which photographers love!
Home grown food at South Farm
South Farm isn’t just a wedding venue, as the name suggests it’s organic smallholding supplies nearly all of their vegetables, herbs, fruit, eggs and some of their pork whatever the season. The dedicated team stand out as the hardest working venue coordinators are attentive and make sure everything is moving along so you can relax knowing your day is flowing along just as you’ve planned it.
