The School House Wedding Photography
My first wedding of 2019 was a trip back to The School House, Lichfield in March. I first photographed here in 2017 for Sophie & Nick so I knew just what a fantastic venue it is to be a wedding photographer and was looking forward to kicking off the 2019 wedding season there. Camilla & Dan got in touch after seeing the images I’d produced for Sophie & Nick as Daniel’s mum is their next door neighbour and she’d seen the album. She knew I was just what they wanted. They had originally thought about not having any photos as they didn’t want a fussy photographer turning up and dictating the day for them with loads of posed images. Upon seeing Sophie & Nick’s album they knew my style of documentary photography was a perfect fit for them.
BEAUTIFUL WEDDING VENUE
The day started at a local hotel as Camilla got ready with her mother and bridesmaids, before heading over to the School House for the ceremony and reception.
As is the bride’s prerogative, Camilla was running a little late, so the ceremony started about 15 minute behind schedule, giving Dan and the groomsmen time to nip out for a nervous wee. Not much is off limits when it comes to capturing moments and it’s not the first time I’ve found myself in the men’s toilets moments before a ceremony taking a picture, as you can see in this blog from Kyrie & Ashley’s wedding last summer.
Camilla took the standard route used at the School House to the ceremony – through the kitchens, which is always good for a shot at this venue as I love the contrast of a bride in her dress, with hair and make-up done being guided through the bowels of the venue. About as un-glamorous as you can get, right before the headline moments as you walk down the aisle!
It was a windy day and guests mainly stayed inside the large marquee style The Wyatt Pavilion while listening to music from one of the members of the band Rouge, who’s full line-up would rock the dance floor later that evening.
Below is a selection of images from the day, I hope you enjoy looking through them.
I absolutely loved being a School House wedding photographer. Located in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside and a stones throw from Lichfield and conveniently near the M6 toll road and A38 for easy access for your guests, The School House is a perfect wedding venue.
With 11 acres of private grounds, exclusive use of the spacious Wyatt Pavilion and attentive staff with a hands-on coordinator making sure the couple’s every need is seen too, venues don’t come much better than this one.
They’ve added an outdoor pagoda for 2019, so you can get married outside. It was too cold this March for Camilla & Dan but it would be great to photograph a ceremony here, surrounded by the amazing Staffordshire hills. Although we did get out there to take some shots during the couple’s shoot.
