The Woodlands at Hothorpe Wedding Photography
It was a pleasure to capture Jos and James’ Woodlands at Hothorpe wedding last October. After having had both their original summer 2020 and backup spring 2021 date taken away by Covid they finally got to tie the knot at the end of the October. The date meant the day would have a slightly different feel, but I think in some ways it maybe suited them as they could lean into their love of halloween, as they decorate the venue with pumpkins and a skeleton couple for the cake. The day also had a strong cat theme, which I loved, of course. I got to meet their cat Pudding on the pre-wedding shoot and he was in attendance via a picture on the wall – an important element to their day which I was sure to document. Jos and her bridemaids all wore matching black cat pajamas, which I thought were amazing. Although the pink probably wouldn’t have quite looked right on me.
The most important thing for Jos and James was to have a relaxed day and my style of photography was perfect for them. I don’t like to instruct anyone or dictate the flow of events. The key to getting great natural images is to be a part of the day and let people carry on like you aren’t there to take photos. By being a part of the day in amongst the moments the photos have a feel of ‘being there’ as they take you back inside the day to relive it again. We did take 10 minutes out to go down ot the outside ceremony area for some groups shots and another 10 minutes away for a chilled out couple’s shoot at sunset. It’s good to take 10 minutes away from the hubbub of the day to slow down and take it all in and along the way. But aside from those two small sections of the day it’s all about capturing the story of the day.

A huge congratulations to Jos & James. I had such a brilliant day with them and their family & friends and I’m very much looking forward to my next trip back to The Woodlands at Hothorpe.
Here is just a preview photos from their day:
