Wellington Wood Wedding Photography

I was really excited to shoot Sophie & Josh’s Wellington Wood wedding in May this year. I had shot a wedding there the previous summer so I had first hand experience of just what a fantastic venue it is. Set in 70 acres of private wildflower meadows and ancient woodland, Wellington Wood is an absolute dream of a venue for couples wanting a relaxed vibe and a really stress-free wedding day. It’s also perfect for a photographer like me who wants to document the natural flow of the day without fussing people for posed photos.

Sophie & Josh used the Woodland Circle for their outdoor ceremony, one of four different ceremony locations couples can choose between. Having so many ceremony options is a great strength of Wellington Wood as it means couples can really customise their day to suit them.

Relaxed Wedding Photography at Wellington Wood

Another great aspect of this relaxed woodland wedding venue is the fact that when you hire it you get full use of the site for the entire weekend. You arrive on the Friday to set up and get settled in so that when you wake up on the Saturday morning you have no travel logistics and don’t leave until the Sunday afternoon. Unlike factory venues which have weddings 6 or 7 days a week, at Wellington Wood you’re not being kicked off site by 10am the next day to make way for the next happy couple on the conveyor belt. Owners Vicky & Paul open their home for the entire weekend and it helps add to the relaxed vibe as there’s no rushing to get in, set up and then pack away early morning with a hangover.
